The importance of PCB materials

The choice of printed circuit board (PCB) material has a direct impact on the performance, reliability, and lifespan of electronic equipment. Among these materials, FR-4 and TG150 are important materials that are often used for modules in LED screens.
Let's take a closer look at the key differences between the FR-4 and TG150 and why Impactrum chose the TG150.

What is FR-4 material?

FR-4 is a synthetic material that combines thermoplastic epoxy resin and glass fiber, and is the most commonly used substrate material for PCB fabrication. FR-4 offers good mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and moisture resistance. However, its relatively low glass transition temperature (TG) can be limiting in high-temperature environments or high heat applications.

TG150 material features

TG150 is a PCB material with a high TG value, which means that its physical and electrical properties remain stable at much higher temperatures than typical FR-4 materials. TG150 material has a TG value of approximately 150℃, which means that the material will not deform or degrade at high temperatures, making it ideal for use in high-temperature environments or applications that use electronic components that generate high heat.

FR-4 vs TG150: Compare and Choose

Thermal performance: TG150 offers significantly higher thermal stability than FR-4. The material is less likely to deform or degrade in high temperature environments, making it ideal for products that need to maintain stable performance at high temperatures.

Reliability: TG150 maintains strong mechanical and electrical properties even at high temperatures. This contributes to the long-term reliability of the product.

Cost: In general, TG150 material is more expensive than FR-4 material, but the extra cost is worth the investment when considering reliability and performance in high-temperature environments.

Impactrum's Choice: TG150

At Impactrum, we prioritize high performance and reliability. Our products need to perform well in demanding environments, which is why we chose to use TG150 material. TG150 ensures stable performance even in high-temperature environments, increasing the lifespan and reliability of our products.

The choice of TG150 material is more than just a technical advantage, it is also in line with our philosophy. We always strive for the highest quality, maximum reliability, and innovation. By using TG150, we can maintain the performance of our products even under extreme conditions such as high temperatures. This is especially important in power-dense applications that generate high heat.

Impactrum uses the TG150 because of the following advantages

  • Maintain good performance in high-temperature environments: The TG150 maintains stable electrical performance and physical properties even at elevated temperatures.
  • Long-term reliability: Stability at high temperatures increases the reliability of the product, allowing it to be used for extended periods of time without degradation.
  • Enable innovative product development: By using PCB materials that can withstand high temperatures, more innovative products can be developed.

Impactrum constantly strives to maximize the benefits of the TG150 material and deliver products that exceed customer expectations.
